"Back to nature in the National Park" Non members welcome
(No toilet or shower block)
Explore the Peak District National Park from our Club Site at Bakewell. A real away-from-it-all site, its lack of a toilet and shower block makes it the perfect place for peace-loving campers ??? even in high season.
The town of Bakewell is just over five miles from Site. It is accessible by bus. There is a thriving market on Monday, the Old House Museum and an arts festival ??? held in August. Chatsworth is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. It is one of the treasure houses of England.
An old railway track between Bakewell and Buxton now forms the Monsal Trail for cyclists and walkers. There are several Nature Reserves to explore in the area. Treak Cliff Cavern is the only place in the world where Blue John stone occurs naturally. Haddon Hall is an unspoilt Mediaeval and Tudor manor house with terraced rose gardens. Buxton is known for its spa water and annual festival. Eyam (pronounced eem) is a village which sacrificed itself to the plague to protect the surrounding people. Youlgreave is the nearest village to Site. It has a Post Office, two butchers and three pubs.
