A small and intimate site, all stone hardstandings, in a peaceful position at the foot of the rugged slopes of Ben Eighe, at the end of a beautiful drive along the valley from Achnasheen. This is a magic place, where the world slows down to walking pace and you with it. The grandeur and spectacle of the area cannot be overstated; its a rare and special place with glittering lochs, lush woodland and mountains and a paradise for both climbers and walkers alike. There is a licensed shop/small cafe/hotel/petrol station in the village to cater to your immediate needs. The first British national nature reserve is just 234 miles away where you may spot the golden eagle and deer by the lochside at dusk (no dogs are permitted). For an unforgettable drive, take the A896 down Glen Torridon and through the Glenshieldaig Forest to Loch Kishom and Loch Carron: the views across to Skye are superb.

An insect repellent is advised, as midges can sometimes be a problem.

From S & Inverness on A9 - at rndabt in Tore (5??m after crossing Kessock Bdge) turn onto A835 (sp Maryburgh, Dingwall); at rndabt in Maryburgh cont on A835 (sp Ullapool); in 13m in Gorstan turn L onto A832 (sp Gairloch); in 15m at rndabt at Achnasheen follow sp Kinlochewe, Gairloch (still on A832). Site on L in abt 10m (50yds past A896 junc)



From NE on A9 - turn R at rndabt just before Cromarty Bdge onto A862 (sp Dingwall); within 3??m in Dingwall turn R onto A834; in 7m in Contin turn R onto A835 (sp Ullapool); in 6??m in Gorstan turn L onto A832 (sp Gairloch ); in 15m at rndabt at Achnasheen follow sp Kinlochewe, Gairloch (still on A832). Site on L in abt 10m (50yds past A896 junc)





Note: care is needed on final approach from Achnasheen as road is single track with passing and overtaking places.
