Peace and tranquillity reign at this attractive site, making it a haven for wild life and a bird watchers paradise. Hill walkers will enjoy the splendours of the nearby Simonside Hills. A place where you can breathe fresh air, feel space and open countryside around you and slough off the troubles of the everyday world. All is peace - and yet this countryside has seen some of the hardest-fought border battles in our history. The Romans had their border conflicts too, and you can see how they solved them with Hadrians Wall, in the south of the county.

From S on Al - abt 2m after X-ing Rv Tyne leave via slip rd and turn L onto A696 (sp Ponteland, Jedburgh); in I 914m turn R at (nowesgate Hotel (sp Cambo, Scots Gap); in 2m turn L onto B6342 (sp Rothbury); in 6m (just past Fontburn Reservoir on L) cross bdge at foot of I in 8 hill & turn R into private rd. Site on R in 1m.

From N on A68/A696 - keep L off A68 (Jedburgh - Corbndge) at Elishaw onto A696 (Ponteland, Newcastle); within 11 m turn L at (nowesgate Hotel (sp Cambo, Scots Gap); then as from S on Al above.

From N on A697 - turn R at New Moor House onto B6341 (Rothbury); in abt 4m in Rothbury turn L onto B6342 X-ing over rv bdge; n abt 6m turn L at foot of dip into private rd. Site on R in 1/2m.

Note: although approach to this site can only be made from the B6342 this presents no problems for caravans as it is a good road.
