As you drive up the approach to the site you wonder if youve made a mistake, for the road rises emptily ahead with no obvious screened area in which a site could hide. Then you top the rise, the ground drops dramatically away and there lies Grin Low on the valley floor. Its conveniently placed for just about everything going on in and around the Peak District, but particularly for the civilised little town of Buxton with its colourful Pavilion Gardens and the Opera House which offers a wide range of events and the world famous Festival from mid-July to August. Youre surrounded by the Peak District National Park which has an extensive network of cycleways, all waymarked for pleasurable exploration. If youre looking for less energetic pursuits, there is a full set of splendid stately homes to visit.

From N on A6 - at rndabt in Buxton turn L (sp Matlock, Derby, Bakewell); within 1/2m at rndabt turn R onto B5159 (sp Pooles Cavern, Country Park); in abt m at 2nd traff Its keep L onto A53 (sp Leek, Congleton, Macclesfield); within ??m turn L (sp Grin Low); in 300yds turn L into site rd. Site ent in 1m.

From Leek on A53 - in abt 11/4m turn R at sp Ashbourne (A515), Grin Low (opp 1st cottages on L after long descent); in 300yds turn L into site rd (sp Grin Low). Site ent in 1/4m.

Note: route from Congleton (A54) is too narrow and steep. As local signs not always reliable, follow distances and directions closely.

Note: electronic barrier system in operation. Please advise wardens if arrival is to be after 8pm as there is no late night arrivals area.
